Lauzon walked into Pomfret’s gym when he was 17-years-old with no prior training. He grew a love for Brazilian jiu-jitsu and ended up growing into one of the best lightweights in New England and earned a shot with the UFC, facilitated by his stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 5”.

The beginning of Joey Proctor’s foray into professional fighting traces to the day he and a friend scrapped with two others in his Pembroke backyard.
A high school freshman at the time, Proctor doesn’t remember what the two-on-two brawl was about. But he remembers what his friend, who was training in mixed martial arts at the time, said to him after the dust settled.
“He was like, ‘Wow, you’re a tough kid, pretty much had my back the whole time,’” Proctor said. “He said, ‘You need to come in, just try it out.’”
